pencil on paper, based on an old photo of my dad, possibly from his medical school days. I sprayed it with fixative so I guess it's done, although of course I'm kicking myself, I see all sorts of things I'm not happy with now, I'm so bloody impatient, I actually spent a little over 6 hours probably on this one, which is twice my average, so in a way that's good I suppose. several work in progress versions are in my scraps folder for those interested, something I rarely do.

I'd been averaging 3 hours and dissatisfaction with my portraits of late, so I've been trying to slow down, I did this over several days as well, I just wish I had waited before spraying it and looked at it again in a couple of days. I can't seem to get it dark enough for some reason. but you get to the point where you must move on and let it go.

he does look like me, or the other way round, but my ears don't stick out that much. thank Zarquon!
